EXPERIMENTAL STUDY on FLEXURAL and BOND BEHAVIOR of RC BEAM with CFRP BARS
This paper presents an experimental study on flexural and bond behavior of RC beams longitudinally reinforced with CFRP bars. Nine simply supported beams subjected to twopoint symmetric load were tested to failure. The main test variables in this study were bond length in the hanging region (i.e., the end part of the beam outside the support) and stirrup ratio in the shear span. Bond strength equation adopted from Architectural Institute of Japan (AIJ) code and required bond length equation provided in ACI 440 were used to evaluate the experimental bond strength. The test results showed that bond-splitting failure occurred in beam with insufficient development length even though it had sufficient stirrup ratio. Additionally, the tension force acted on longitudinal reinforcement and stirrup were also examined from the test results and then the relationship between these tension forces and shear force is presented.
