PUSHOVER ANALYSIS OF MASONRY INFILLED RCC SPACE FRAMES USING SAP 2000

Abstract

In this paper, the seismic performance of masonry infilled reinforced concrete space frames is investigated by the pushover analysis using SAP 2000 software. The brick infill is modeled as a diagonal strut element. The structural dynamic characteristics such as fundamental frequency, mode shape, etc are determined. The seismic response of reinforced concrete frames is evaluated using the design level earthquakes of zone III as specified in the Indian Code. The frames are assumed to be located on medium soil site. The relationship of base shear and roof displacement (capacity curve) and 5 % damped elastic design response spectrum (demand curve) of the models are established. The capacity and demand curves are converted into a spectral displacement and spectral acceleration format to obtain the performance point.
