INFLUENCE OF CHEMICAL ADMIXTURE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF STRENGTH OF PREPACKED CONCRETE

Abstract

This paper highlights the influence of superplasticiser and expanding admixture in the development of strength of prepacked concrete at different ages of 7, 28 and 90 days. It has been observed that the average compressive strength of prepacked concrete without any admixture was almost equal to that of normal concrete. Using chemical admixtures, particularly the expanding admixture, the compressive strength of prepacked concrete significantly increased as it provided higher fluidity with minimum bleeding. Irrespective of admixture used, the tensile strength of prepacked concrete was found to be higher than that of normal concrete at all ages.
