EFFECT OF CURING TEMPERATURE ON THE STRENGTH OF HIGH PERFORMANCE CONCRETE

Abstract

The influence of curing water temperature on the properties of high performance concrete needs to be well understood in order to enhance its potential uses. This paper reports the study on the effects of various curing water temperatures and curing condition on the compressive strength of HPC made using silica fume as additive. HPC mixtures were developed with various percentages of silica fume. The cubes were placed under various curing conditions and the hardened properties tested. It is indicated that the temperature of curing ater increased the strength. The optimum range of silica fume in high performance concrete is 5 – 10 percent.
