THE LABORATORY EXPERIMENT of MOVABLE TIDAL GATE for HANDLING TIDAL FLOOD
Based on a field observation, the prototype of the existing tidal gate is sufficiently effective to manage tidal flood but the operation of the gate is jammed due to sedimentation. Thus, anti-sedimentation system is required to be built. The physical model of the laboratory is made based on the existing prototype, the dimension of laboratory canal, and the principles of dimensional analysis. The model of fluidization and simulation system of the laboratory can be realized by plotting a variation of holes elevation and sediment thickness. Based on the experiment, the temporary result shows that the fluidization pipe with horizontal holes orientation (180°) can assign optimal geometrical water trench shape with minimal blockage. A movable gate for tide has been planned and realized, while the experiment of movable gate simulation with fluidization system will be continued to the next phase.
